Meta, Facebook, and the Metaverse

To answer all the questions we've been getting lately: Last week Zuckerberg announced that Facebook was rebranding itself as Meta. This rebrand refers to the parent company of Facebook that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Facebook the social media platform will not change its name.

The rebranding is part of the parent company's approach to digital marketing, signaling that the metaverse will be the successor of the internet as we know it. Is this good or bad? Probably both. Just as we love and hate our smartphones, data tracking, and social media, I'm sure there will be lots to love and hate about the metaverse. Stay tuned. And check out Zuckerberg's vision here.
